FAMILIAR FACES, 2026

Alcohol-based markers on cold-pressed watercolour cotton paper, 300gsm

10 individual A5 (21.1 x 14.7 cm) portraits arranged on A1 (59.4 x 84.1 cm), Framed

Exhibited at The Crafts Council as part of Concord College’s Art Matters Initiative: a celebration of art's enduring value in people’s lives.

Familiar Faces is built on the idea that memory rarely lives in places alone, but in the people who filled them.

Using alcohol-based markers, each portrait is rendered with expressive, textured etching and layered strokes that capture its full essence and reflect individuality.

None depict a specific person - instead, they are faceless personas, familiar in feeling if not in form, drawn from the many individuals who passed through a shared space and left something behind.

Each face is left open to interpretation, for you to wonder what story it carries.

The concept was also explored through digital illustration, published on stationery items such as notebooks.
